Girl Rising Presents

“This Story May Save Us”: A Celebration of Girls’ Power to Remake the World

Join leaders of the international nonprofit Girl Rising for a special event celebrating the untapped potential of girls to address some of the world’s most urgent challenges, including climate change. The evening will feature screenings of portions of the acclaimed documentary, “Girl Rising,” which helped spark a global movement for girls’ education. Engage in lively conversations and story-sharing with Girl Rising’s co-founder and CEO, Christina Lowery, alongside notable young advocates for girls’ rights, education equity, and climate justice, along with other special guests. Through powerful storytelling, we’ll showcase the transformative impact of educating girls and highlight their pivotal role in remaking our world.

Girl Rising is an international nonprofit that uses the power of storytelling to change the way the world values girls and their education. Their education programs, delivered in Guatemala, India, Kenya, Nigeria and Pakistan, help girls build the skills and mind-sets to succeed in school and pursue their highest aspirations. The Future Rising Fellowship supports a global community of young leaders driving change in their communities and around the world.

I am thrilled to join forces with the Westport Country Playhouse to showcase these extraordinary storytellers in such a beautiful venue.

This Story May Save Us offers a rare opportunity for local audiences to connect with the narratives of young Indigenous women from South America, who are the first in their communities to pursue higher education and are now driving climate change solutions as innovators, change-makers and advocates.

Through their participation in the Girl Rising Fellowship, they are mastering the art of filmmaking and storytelling, using their voices to ignite a movement for positive change. It has been an honor and privilege to work with them during their Fellowship and I am sure audiences will be inspired and empowered by their stories.

Christina Lowery, Girl Rising CEO
