Westport Country Playhouse has a long and proud history of employing members of Actors’ Equity Association, the union for professional actors and stage managers. As a LORT theatre, the Playhouse gladly abides by union practices for all rehearsals and performances, ensuring a positive and professional working environment for all.
Auditions for plays selected as part of our season are often scheduled by private invitation and agent submissions during casting sessions.
Additionally, as required by AEA, the Playhouse holds open calls both in New York City and locally during the course of each year. Notices and guidelines for those auditions can be found on this page as well as the Actors’ Equity website.
On certain occasions, when permissible under union rules and agreements, the Playhouse may employ non-union performers.
