Bernicestine McLeod Bailey

Bernicestine McLeod Bailey is President and Founder of McLeod Associates, Inc., an information technology consulting firm (formerly one of the Top 10 Minority businesses in Fairfield County CT). Prior to McLeod, she was a Systems Engineer with IBM. She is also Vice President for Operations of Aisha & Co. LLC, a family gift company whose signature product is Ishababies®, a line of multicultural plush dolls.

In the volunteer arena, she is the Chair of the Board of The Mary and Eliza Freeman Center for History and Community in Bridgeport, CT, and founding member/Secretary of TEAM Westport (CT) — the Town Diversity Council whose mission is to achieve and celebrate a more welcoming, multicultural community. She has served as a Director of Fairfield County’s Community Foundation, a Trustee of the Westport Library, Secretary of the REACH Prep Board, and Treasurer of the Mid-Fairfield County Dress for Success Board. She is a past president of the Fairfield County Chapter of The Links, Incorporated; the Stamford/Norwalk Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc.; and of the Fairfield/Westchester Chapter of the Independent Computer Consultants Association.

Bernicestine is an alumna (A.B. Economics) and trustee emerita of Brown University from which she received an honorary doctorate in 2023 for years of dedicated alumni service on many levels, including fundraising, working with The Pembroke Center for Teaching and Research on Women, and diversity endeavors. She is also an honorary lifetime member of the President’s Advisory Council on Diversity.

Her additional recognition includes a Brown University Alumni Service award, a Brown Bear award for lifetime alumni service, and a community Arts and Culture Empowerment (ACE) award from the Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County.
