Christal Schanes is an Emmy award winning hairstylist for her work on “Saturday Night Live!”. She grew up in Rockford Illinois and knew at a young age that her art background was best used for character work through entertainment in taking a strong liking to hair & makeup. After completing her MFA at the North Carolina School of the Arts in Wig & Prosthetics Design she had pursued a career in NYC. Christal has worked on many productions including “Premium Rush”, “Righteous Kill”, Salt, “The Heart She Holler” (3 seasons) and even 12th Night, Skin of Your Teeth, Good Doctor, and Minor Fantastical Kingdom at our beloved Delaware Repertory Company. She currently teaches at UNCSA in the very Wig & Prosthetics Department that she found her start and has fallen in love with inspiring students to grow into incredible young artists while remaining connected to the entertainment industry in hair as well as medical wig building which is her passion behind the scenes.
