The Playhouse produces all types of events, not just our Mainstage season. Learn about them below!

Mainstage season
Our 2024-2025 season begins in the fall and extends through next spring, with three productions running three weeks each, alongside two shorter run, “add-on” productions. From family friendly plays to old fashioned screwball comedies, to stories with more biting and topical humor, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Script in Hand playreadings
At Playhouse Script in Hand playreadings — an audience favorite for over 10 years — there’s nothing between you and the actors on stage. These readings bring actors who’ve just met — or who’ve known each other for years — together for one day to rehearse and perform a play on a bare stage, with simple lighting — and you. The audience is in charge of conjuring the set, costumes, and atmosphere — or nothing at all. Actors, audience, and the director come together to create a special, one-night-only experience. Curated by Mark Shanahan.

Mic in Hand
Mic in Hand started in 2023 as a spin-off of our Script in Hand series with *SOLD OUT* Ari Axelrod – A Place For Us: A Celebration of Jewish Broadway. Now in 2024, Mic in Hand is getting its own entire series!

Barnstormer
A new series of small events in the Lucille Lortel White Barn, located adjacent to the Playhouse. From cabarets to playreadings, Barnstormers provide an opportunity for artists, many of whom are from the local community, to exercise their creative muscle in a cozy setting. These smaller events allow for a more intimate experience with artists at the Playhouse.

Galas and Fundraisers
Every year, we offer a series of fundraisers to benefit various programs at the Playhouse. All proceeds go directly to support our non-profit, professional, producing theater and its work on stage, with schools, and throughout the community.
