A concert celebrating Broadway’s greatest musicals and the works that inspired them!

Thursday, July 18 at 8PM; Friday, July 19 at 8PM; Saturday, July 20 at 3PM & 8PM

Get ready for a night of pure Broadway magic!

THEY MADE IT A MUSICAL! pulls back the curtain on the greatest of Broadway shows  which were inspired by plays, novels, works of art, short stories and historical events !

From Romeo and Juliet sparking the idea for West Side Story, to Shaw’s Pygmalion laying the groundwork for My Fair Lady, the history of musical theater has always looked to adapt from the very best- and sometimes found inspiration from the most unlikely sources.

Join our extraordinary company of singers backed by a live band as they take the Playhouse stage with songs and stories about the origins of Oklahoma!, Fiddler on the Roof, Hamilton, and many more.

Whether you’re steeped in Broadway history or just love humming a good showtune, this concert will keep your toes tapping and your heart singing as we celebrate the inspirations which gave birth to your favorite musicals.

And who knows? You might even be inspired to write the next great musical yourself!

Have you ever wondered how the genius composers and writers of your favorite musicals got the idea for their work? Broadway historian Larry Maslon has compiled a treasure trove of songs and fun filled facts, all delivered by a lineup of powerhouse singers ready to fill the Playhouse with their extraordinary talent. You’ll be delighted to join us as we hear a selection of songs from many of the greatest Broadway musicals of all time. THEY MADE IT A MUSICAL! is sure to be a perfect, fun filled, moving night of summer entertainment at the Playhouse!"
